Fort Ebey State Park and Lord Hill Regional Park are currently closed for participants eligible for Interscholastic and Intercollegiate championships. For those not eligible for the championships (M35+, for example), Fort Ebey State Park and Lord Hill Regional Park will close on December 21, 2011, four months prior to the event. Individuals and groups training or orienteering in a closed venue will not be eligible for awards or national ranking points, but they may still participate as uncompetitive. Fort Casey State Park will not be under embargo, as the sprint relay is not a nationally-sanctioned event. Per the official Orienteering USA rules: 3.2.4 The term “United States Championship Orienteering “A” Meet” shall refer only to events that are sanctioned by the Orienteering USA Sanctioning Committee as “Orienteering “A” Meets” and are designated a U.S. Championship event by the Orienteering USA Board of Directors (BOD). The following foot orienteering “A” events for schools competitions will be accepted for Championship Bid by the board of directors. a) United States Intercollegiate Orienteering Championships b) United States Interscholastic Orienteering Championships 19.4 When the venue for an event that requires BOD approval is placed on the Orienteering USA Event Calendar and publicly announced, the area is closed to orienteering competitions and training until the event takes place. Individuals or groups visiting the closed venue will not be eligible for competition, awards, or rankings, but they may nevertheless participate in the event. 19.5 When the venue for an event that does not require BOD approval is placed on the Orienteering USA Event Calendar and publicly announced, the area is closed to orienteering competitions and training for 4 months prior to the event, or longer at the discretion of the event director. If the embargo is to be longer than 4 months, it must be published in all announcements regarding the event. Individuals or groups training or orienteering in the closed venue will not be eligible for competition, awards, or rankings, but they may nevertheless participate in the event. |
